Late goal gives East Bengal full points

Srikant Datta scored in the dying moments to give East Bengal a 1-0 victory over JCT Mills, Phagwara, in a National Football League match, in Ludhiana, on Friday.

The all-important goal came two minutes before the final whistle off a pass from Chandan Das after the first half remained barren despite some good moves from both sides.

JCT had a good chance to score in the first half but Hardeep Singh Gill's shot, following a pass from Jaswinder Singh from the right flank, was well-saved by goalkeeper Sangram Mukherjee.

East Bengal continue to be atop of the table with 25 points from 10 matches of which they have won eight. JCT are at the bottom with four points from six matches, having lost and four drawn.
