Bengal win Jr. National football

Bengal lifted the M Dutta Roy trophy, the symbol of supremacy in the under-21 Junior National football championship, defeating holders Goa 3-1 in the final at the Nehru stadium in Duliajan, Assam, on Saturday.

Defending champions Goa dominated the first-half of the match and surged ahead in the 33rd minute when Alex Ambrose, displaying swift footwork, bulged the net.

Bengal came back into the match in the second half, with Swarup Chakraborty equalising a minute after the breather.

The winners dominated thereafter and Sandipan Das increased the lead in the 55th minute before Shyam Babu completed the rout.
