Chinappa, Ghosal excel

Indian juniors Joshna Chinappa and Sourav Ghosal bagged doubles each on the final day of the Singapore Junior squash championships.

According to information, Madras-based Joshna Chinappa beat her citymate Vaidehi Reddy in under-19 and under-17 finals while Calcutta-based Gourav Ghosal sidelined two Aussie lads in the boys' under-17 and under-15 finals.

Bomba-based Alisha Mashruwala too was in the limelight, winning the girls' under-13 title, beating Malaysia's Fatin Balkis 9-4, 9-6, 9-3.

Joshna, who was in tremedous form, first beat Vaidehi 9-7, 9-2, 9-2 in the under-17 final and then recorded a 9-5, 9-5, 9-0 win over the same opponent in the under-19 final.

Ghosal blanked out Russel Wegner 9-0, 9-0, 9-0 for the u-15 title before defeating Ben Reece 6-9, 9-2, 9-4, 9-2 in the under-17 final.

Results (all finals):
Girls' under-13: Alisha Mashruwala (Ind) bt Fatin Balkis (Mal) 9-4, 9-6, 9-3.
Under-17: Joshan Chinappa (Ind) bt Vaidehi Reddy (Ind) 9-7, 9-2, 9-2.
Under-19: Joshna Chinappa (Ind) bt Vaidehi Reddy (Ind) 9-5, 9-5, 9-0.
Boys' under-15: Sourav Ghosal (Ind) bt Russel Wegner (Aus) 9-0, 9-0, 9-0.
Under-17: Sourav Ghosal (Ind) bt Ben Reece (Aus) 6-9, 9-2 9-4, 9-2.
