Fazal and Uzbek partner in doubles semis

India's Syed Fazaluddin, pairing with Uzbekistan's Dmitri Tomashevich, moved into the doubles semi-finals of the ITF-Futures 2001 tournament in Jorhat on Wednesday. Tomashevich, the top seed in the men's singles, also booked a place in singles quarterfinals.

In the singles match, after winning the first set 6-3 against Kokurin, Tomashevich lost the second 4-6. But he had little trouble in the third to wrap up the match at 6-2 and book a place in the last eight stage.

Later Fazaluddin and Tomashevic outclassed the Indian duo of Rohan Bopanna and Vijay Kannan 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 in a doubels quarter-final match at the Jorhat Tennis Club.

Saurav Panja and Prahlad Srinath lost their doubles quarter-final to Great Britain's James Nelson and Oliver Freelove 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.

Indonesians Wibowo and Wiryawan beat Donovan September of South Africa and James Aukland of Great Britain 6-1, 6-2 to move into the last four.

The South African-Indonesian pair of De Voscot and Pramono got through the semis via a walk over, when Victor Bruthans and Hasko of Slovakia did not turn up.
