Jayalakshmi - Chakravarthy in semis

Top seeded Sai Jayalakshmi and Rushmi Chakravarthy of Tamil Nadu took their appointed place in the doubles semi-finals in the Indian Oil Servo ITF women's circuit satellite tennis championship, in Madras on Wednesday evening.

The tournament favourites will take on Sheetal Gautham and Liza Perreira while the Venkataraman sisters -- Aarti and Archana will meet Radhika Tulple and Geeta Manohar in an all-Indian doubles semi-finals on Thursday.

The top seeds, who won the first set at 7-5 against fighting youngsters Nandita Chandrasekar and T Yamini, had three breaks -- in the third, fifth and 11th games, and were also broken twice, in the 4th and 10th.

However, they were in a different league in the second set. Both worked in tandem to win the match rather easily at 6-2. Jayalakshmi and Chakravarthy won the last four games in the second set without losing a point.

Other results: Geeta Manoharan and Radhika Tulple bt Samritha Sekhar and Preeti Rao 6-3 6-2; Liza Perreira and Sheetal Gautham bt Alice Joy and Marutha Devi 6-3, 6-4 and Archana and Aarti bt Saranyas Pattabi and Sai Swapna 6-1, 6-0.
