Prasar Bharti gets Afro-Asian Games rights

State broadcasting corporation, Prasar Bharti, said on Thursday it had won exclusive rights to broadcast the first Afro-Asian Games scheduled in New Delhi in November.

India's state television and radio will broadcast the Games following the deal worth 20 million rupees, a Prasar Bharti official told reporters.

The deal gives the corporation exclusive rights for terrestrial and satellite broadcasts as well as the Internet.

The Games -- which will have competitions in athletics, boxing, field hockey, tennis, shooting, soccer, swimming and weightlifting -- are due to be held from November 3-11.

Prasar Bharti said it would negotiate with the Asian Broadcasting Union and networks in Africa to beam the Games in the two continents.
