Sania loses in semis of Durban event

Top seed Sania Mirza lost in the semi-finals of the girls' singles and doubles in the KawZulu Natal Junior ITF (grade 1) Tournament in Durban, South Africa, on Friday.

Fourth seed Chanelle Scheepers of South Africa rocked the boat of the Indian junior, winning 6-3, 6-1 to reach the final.

Later on Friday, top seed Sania and Sasha Abraham, lost to the South African pair of Lizaan Du Plessis and Kelly Anderson 3-6, 2-6 in the semi-finals of doubles action.

Meanwhile, Sunil Kumar Sipaeya and Amanjot Singh -- seeded third, lost in the semi-finals of the boys' doubles at the Philadelphia grade-3 ITF junior grasscourt event being played at the Philadelphia Cricket Club.

The duo lost to second seeds K C Corkery of the United States and Jacob Olsen of New Zealand 1-6, 2-6 in the semis.

In the other semi-final, the top seed American pair of Stephen Amritraj and Jonathan Stokke defeated the fifth seeded American pair of Ryler De Heart and James Pade 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 to enter final.
