Bhel-Rastogi go down in final

Indian juniors Rishi Behl and Karan Rastogi lost in the doubles final at the fifth Arab International junior tournament, played in Syria, last week.

The young duo lost to Gregory Chambaz of Switzerland and Fadi-Zyad Zamjaoui of Morocco 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 at the Grade 5 ITF junior event.

The other Indians on the doubles event could not move past the second round. Rewant Dutta, parternering Nishendiran Sivendiran of Sri Lanka, lost in the second round to Mohamed Abdulla and Abdul-Rahman Al Hammadi of Qatar 3-6, 2-6. Earlier, in the first round, Dutta and Sivendiran had defeated Navdeep Singh of India and Mahir Nisar of Pakistan 6-4, 6-7(4), 1-6. Another Indian, Amit Karunakakran, partnering Yassir Bouyahya of Morocco, lost in the first round to Ali AL Ghareeb and Abdulla Al-Mekaimi of Kuwait 2-6, 3-6.

In the singles, Rishi Behl lost to Musaad Al Jazzaf of Kuwait 3-6, 0-6 and Karan Rastogi lost to Sherif El Sherie of Egypt 0-6, 2-6 in the quarter-finals.

Amit Karunakakran lost in the second round to Musaad Al Jazzaf of Kuwait 6-1, 3-6, 2-6, while Navdeep Singh lost to Ali Al Ghareeb of Kuwait 1-6, 1-6 and Rewant Dutta lost to Yulian Svitolin of Ukraine 1-6, 2-6 in the first round.

In the girls' singles, Krushmi Chheda lost in the second round to Noha Mohsen of Egypt 1-6, 3-6. In the doubles, Krushmi, parternering Lara Al Samman of Syria, lost in the semi-finals to the Hungarian pair of Miljana Adanko and Beatrix Csordas 2-6, 0-6. Adanko and Csordas won the title.
