India hold Leyton Orient

Putting up an improved performance, the Indian football team held third division side Leyton Orient Football club to a 1-1 draw in the third match of their England tour on Tuesday night.

The Indians, who had earlier lost 0-3 to Brentford FC and O-2 to former European Cup champions Nottingham Forest, will next meet first division side Walsall football club on August 3 in their last outing.

After a goalless first half, substitute striker Brendan McElholm scored in the 63rd minute from a corner to put Orient ahead. The Indians restored parity in the 79th minute, when star striker I M Vijayan shot home from outside the box. Incidentally, Vijayan also came in as substitute.

India had more scoring opportunities but poor finishing was their undoing.
