Indian spikers cleared for Pak tourney

The Government of India has cleared the Indian team's participation in the Asian qualification tournament for the World Junior men's volleyball championship in Islamabad next month, the Volleyball Federation of India announced in Madras on Tuesday.

"The team has been accorded necessary clearance by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs to participate in the tournament," VFI executive vice-president K Murugan said in a statement.

Besides India and hosts Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Iran, Korea, Australia, Chinese Taipei and Kazakhstan will participate in the tournament from May 10 to 19.

The Indian team is presently training at the SAI Centre, Bangalore.
