No decision yet on hockey tour of Pak: Gill

"No decision has been taken on the Indian hockey team's tour of Pakistan next year; we will abide by whatever decision the government takes," Indian Hockey Federation president K P S Gill said on Saturday.

Reacting to a report from Islamabad that the proposed hockey series between the two countries will not be affected by the cancellation of the Indian cricket team's tour of Pakistan, Gill, speaking over phone from Chandigarh, said though talks have been on between the two sides, a final decision hasn't been reached yet.

Referring to PHF secretary Brig Muarutullah Khan's statement that he had held discussions with IHF officials during the Sydney Olympic Games two months ago, Gill said a lot of time and deliberations are required for organising a bilateral or multilateral series.

"All our international commitments are subject to government clearance. We will abide by its decision," the IHF chief said.

He described Khan's threat of severing hockey ties if the Indian government vetoed permission for its hockey team too to make the visit as 'hypothetical' and refused to react to it.
