Geet Sethi on winning spree

Former World champion Geet Sethi of India continued his winning spree when he drubbed John Dinsmore of Northern Ireland 4-0 in a Group-B league match in the World Open billiards championship at Middlesbrough on Sunday.

Earlier, Sethi had beaten 21-year-old Matthew Bolton of Australia and dangerous Englishman Ian Williamson in his first two league matches.

Sethi, along with former world runner-up Devendra Joshi, who defeated 55-year-old richard Brennan of the Republic of Ireland 4-2 from Group-D, look set to qualify for last 16 stage from their respective groups.

Sethi will now run into Englishman Darren Kell in his last league match while Joshi needs a win from the remaining two matches against world No 5 Chris Shutt and top amateur from England Tony Mackinder.

In other matches, Ashok Shandilya topped Group-E when he crushed his campatriot 15-year-old Pankaj Advani 4-1 while former national champion Alok Kumar turned in a fine performance to beat his countryman Manoj Kothari 4-0 in a Group-F match.

Nalin Patel crushed Franz Meszaros of Austria 4-0 from Group-F while another Indian Dhruv Sitwala lost 2-4 to world number six Roxton Chapman of England.
