Two Indians in World jr. boxing quarters

India's Sekar Ashok and Som Bahadur Pun moved into the quarter-finals of the XIth Junior World Boxing championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Sekar, competing in the 54 kg category, defeated Moran Mark of England while Som Bahadur beat Ladon Joegen of the Philippines, 23-9 in the 57 kg category.

In other pre-quarter-final bouts V Johnson lost to Canadian Barden Randy in the 81 kgs class and Santhosh Thakur was unlucky as he went down to Sokolav Vladislav of Latvia on individual counts after both were locked at 8 all at the end of the bout in the 48 kg class.

V Harikrishnan, in the 60 kg class, and Parveen Kumar, in the 63.5 kg, also reached the round of 16.

The Sports Minstry had cleared an 11-member Indian team consisting seven boxers and four officials for the championships.
