Fazaluddin in last four

Seventh seed Syed Fazaluddin kept the Indian flag flying high with a stunning upset win over second seed Viktor Bruthans of Slovakia in the quarter-finals of the ITF men's Futures tennis tournament in Lucknow on Thursday.

Fazaluddin, the lone Indian survivor in the fray, showed tremedous control and executed fine volleys to win 7-6 (8/6), 5-7, 7-6 (7/2).

The two players matched each other stroke for stroke but the Indian Davis Cup star displayed better nerves in tight situations and won the important points to move into the semi-finals.

In other matches, fourth seed Leslle Demiliani of France beat fellow countryman Baptiste Dupuy 7-6, 6-1, while Britain's Jonathan Marray overcame initial hiccups to oust Slovakia's Michael Mertinak 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
