Mahadevan/Shivshankar in quarters

Men's doubles top seeds Manoj Mahadevan and K Shivshankar led the other ranked pairs into the quarter-finals following easy opening round victories in the Rs 300,000 J S Pereira Millennium All India men's ranking tennis tournament at the Bandra Gymkhana in Bombay on Wednesday.

Mahadeven and Shivshankar breezed past Uttar Pradesh's Kamlesh Shukla and Kaptan Karsolia 6-0, 6-3.

Before the other seeds booked their places in the last eight, Nandakumar Mukundan and Benjamin Xavier registered an exciting 7-6, (8-6), 6-2 win over Maharashtra's National under-18 doubles winners Abhijeet Tamhane and Vivek Jhaveri.
