Asia Cup team on May 22

The 14-member Indian cricket team for the Asia Cup, in Dhaka from May 28, will be selected on May 22, Board of Control for Cricket in India executive secretary Sharad Diwadkar said on Monday.

Captain Sourav Ganguly, who playing in the English county league, is expected to reach Bombay on May 21and proceed straight to Pune, where the conditioning camp for the probables is on, to attend the selection committee meeting.

The Indian captain along with Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble, who are also playing in England, have been have been exempted from the conditioning camp.

Jaywant Lele, secretary of the BCCI, said all three are in fine fettle as they too had undergone a fortnight's fitness camp, arranged by their respective counties.

Those at the 10-day Pune camp are: Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammad Azharuddin, Ajay Jadeja, Saba Karim, Nikhil Chopra, Jacob Martin, Ajit Agarkar, Vinod Kambli, Nayan Mongia, Shiv Sunder Das, Murali Kartik, Zaheer Khan, Mohammed Kaif, Hemang Badani, Shreedharan Sriram, T Kumaran, S Ramesh, Robin Singh, Hrishikesh Kanitkar, Amit Bhandari, Sunil Joshi, Reetinder Singh Sodhi.
