Disappointed Pakistan target fifth spot

Fallen giants Pakistan have pledged to go all out to claim fifth place in the 4th Junior Men's Asia Cup.

Pakistan won the first three editions of this tournament but this year, Korea and Malaysia handed them their first ever defeats.

A crestfallen coach Tahir Zaman said he will have a tough time lifting the boys after their loss to Malaysia yesterday but it is a job which needs to be done.

"There is still an outside chance that we can reach next year's Junior World Cup."

"Asia are already assured of three spots but with the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) trying for four teams with a playoff for the fifth team, there is still everything to play for," said the former international.

"We have nothing to lose and I see no reason why we cannot defeat Bangladesh. China are fast improving but I'm sure we can beat them as well to finish fifth."

China, who finished third in Group B should have no problems when they meet Chinese Taipei in the other match.

They were unlucky not to reach the semifinals as they let slip a three-goal lead against Japan in their very first match.
