Separated Paes, Bhupathi to team up for Olympics

Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi will decide in a few days whether to rejoin and defend their two Grand Slam titles - - the French Open and Wimbledon - - and the No. 1 ranking they achieved last year.

The former world No. 1 Indian pair separated after Bhupathi underwent shoulder surgery six months ago and played with new partners on the international circuit in the last few tournaments.

According Paes's father, former hockey Olympian Dr Vece Paes, both will however definitely go to the Sydney Olympics as one of the favourite pairs for the doubles title, though their future together as a pair is unlikely, as Leander has found a winning partner in Dutchman Jan Siemerink.

Jan and Leander won the Disney US Claycourt title on Monday at Orlando and are likely to continue together. Bhupathi too has found a new partner in Wayne Arthurs of the United States. Both played as a pair in the Orlando tournament.

Dr Vece said it is important that the stars iron out their differences. He also informed that Leander will resting his strained knee and will be out of action for a few days.
