England players in pay dispute

Top England players have refused to sign their new contracts with the English Cricket Board (ECB) because of a pay dispute, the media reported in London on Friday.

The revolt, being led by England captain Nasser Hussain, comes a week before England's first planned get-together of the season, the Sun newspaper reported.

The deadline for the signing of the contract awarded to 12 players is Friday, but so far none have put their signatures on paper.

The players are being paid between 20,000 and 50,000 pounds for six months' work with England, but believe they are losing out on their normal county bonuses.

They also believe their salaries would not reflect the money earned by the ECB through selling products using their names.

Twelve players were awarded six-month contracts earlier this month by England which contained a basic salary and performance bonuses.
