Williams sisters to face each other in semi-final

The Williams sisters, Serena and Venus will clash in the women's singles semi-finals at Wimbledon. Both made the grade on Tuesday with impressive, though contrasting victories.

In another quarter-final, defending champion Lindsay Davenport beat Monica Seles 6-7, 6-4, 6-0. Davenport will clash with Australian Jelena Dokic who had beaten Magui Serna 6-3, 6-3 earlier in the day, in the other semi-final.

Eight seed Serena, the 18-year-old U.S. Open champion, took the quick route, whipping the experienced Lisa Raymond 6-2, 6-0 in just 40 minutes to reach her first semi-final in only her second Wimbledon, while fifth seeded Venus shocked top seed Martina Hingis 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

In the men's doubles, India's Mahesh Bhupathi and David Prinosil of Germany, the 10th seeds, were beaten by the unseeded pair of Roger Federer and Andrew Kratzman 6-7 (2-7), 4-6, 4-6.

Yesterday, Bhupathi, partnering Martina Navratilova, bowed out of the mixed doubles. They were beaten 6-4, 6-7, 18-16 by Dutch pair Jan Siemerink and Miriam Oremans.
