Arjun Singh leads in Wills Southern Open

Arjun Singh continued to hold sway in the Wills Southern Open Golf Championship. The Delhi golfer emerged the undisputed leader after three rounds, with a one under 71, to aggregate 210 after three days' play at the Karnataka Golf Association course, Bangalore, today.

Two strokes behind him is Jyoti Randhawa (212), who had a two under 70, while in third place, with a 215 aggregate, is veteran golfer Basad Ali, who completed day three with a level par 72.

Mukesh Kumar, who was placed joint ninth overnight, after his two-day tally of three over, came up with a brilliant three under 69 to finish the day at level par 216 and is placed joint fourth with Uttam Mundy who had a fine two under 70.

The day's best, however, came from Zai Kipgen, who made a four under 68 with birdies coming on the second, seventh, eighth and 15th, where, after teeing off with a six-iron, he sank in a 20 footer uphill, right to left putt.

Arjun, who had an average outward journey, said: "My hitting is still not up to the mark, though I regained a bit of my touch on the back nine with bogeys in the first and ninth holes."

Arjun had a very average front nine though he had a lone birdie on the 8th where he sank in a fine 20 footer. The overnight leader made a birdie in the 14th and 17th for a one under card of 71.

Hero Honda Masters' winner in 1998, Jyoti Randhawa dropped a shot in his very first hole and bogeyed again on the third. However, he recovered to notch up three birdies on the fifth, eighth and ninth where Randhawa's driver and three-wood saw him miss a ten foot putt for an eagle. The inward journey saw him bogey the tenth. But the meerut based professional had consecutive birdies on the 14th and 15th to finish the day with a two under 70.
