MRF Foundation-Australian Academy tie-up

The MRF Pace Foundation, which is endeavouring to produce talented fast bowlers for Indian cricket, has entered into a reciprocal arrangement with the Australian Cricket Academy whereby the institutions will accommodate trainees on exchange, pool latest bowling techniques and share updates on injury prevention and fitness.

In a statement today, Dennis Lillee, former Australian fast bowler and chief coach of the MRF Pace Foundation, said two trainees of the MRF Foundation will be joining the Australian Cricket Academy in mid October.

Lillee said former New Zealand speedster Danny Morrison was impressed with the set up at the MRF Foundation and expressed keen interest in establishing a relationship between the foundation and the New Zealand Cricket Academy, something similar to the existing arrangement between the academies in Australia and South Africa.

"This sort of arrangement would benefit the world of cricket immensely," he said, adding that Morrison's visit has injected refreshing enthusiasm in the application of many new interesting fast bowling and recovery drills.

Lillee said he visited the MRF Pace Foundation this time as a prelude to the forthcoming domestic season. The trainees were in excellent shape and raring to stake their claim for higher honours. Emphasis was laid on the mental aspects of the game.

A rare facet of the current group of trainees is that there are four left arm seamers out of a bunch of ten. Potentially, a couple of them could be knocking at the doors of international cricket if they do well during this domestic season, Lillee added.
