Steve Waugh cops it on the nose

Australian captain Steve Waugh broke his nose in a fielding mishap in course of the first Test against Sri Lanka, on Friday, and was rushed to hospital.

Waugh was running for a catch on the second day of the Test in Kandy when he collided with fast bowler Jason Gillespie.

The australians were both looking to take a top edge from Mahela Jayawardene, during an over by off-spinner Colin Miller, when they ran into each other. The ball went astray.

Waugh walked off the ground with a towel on his face. Gillespie -- notoriously prone to injury -- twisted his ankle, was carried off the ground by teammates and was also taken to hospital.
