Amritinder shares lead with Basad Ali

With a mere three strokes separating the top six in the field, the race for the top spot in the Color Plus Golf championship is wide open.

Amritinder Singh of Chandigarh returned with the day's best card of three under par 67 to share the lead with veteran Basad Ali of Calcutta at the end of the penultimate round in Madras today.

Playing a flawless and a bogey-free round, Amritinder came up with a stupendous display to tie with Basad Ali (two under par 68) with a three round gross of 205.

Close on his heels was the experienced Ali Sher from Delhi in second spot, one stroke behind the leaders, while overnight leader Vijay Kumar from Lucknow, who won the Mahindra Order of Merit for the second straight year yesterday, slipped to third spot with a three-round tally of 207.

Cosmo-Hindu Open winner Vijay Kumar, who is looking for a unique double, returned with a card of two over par 72 and Ali Sher played a level par score of 70.

Digvijay Singh of Meerut and Shiv Prakash of Kanpur were joint fourth with a score of 208 as the stage got set for an engrossing finish in the last round tomorrow.
