Four-nation hockey in Australia

Asian Games champions India will clash with runners-up South Korea in the opening fixture of the double leg, four-nation hockey tournament in Australia.

The first leg of the tournament, which will be played in Canberra from September 16 to 19, also features Pan American champions Canada besides hosts Australia, the Champions Trophy winners.

The second leg and the final will be played at the Homebush Olympic stadium in Sydney from September 22 to 26.

This is the first preliminary tournament for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. India, Canada and Australia have already qualified for the Games by virtue of being the Continental champions and hosts respectively.

The itinerary:
September 16: India v South Korea
September 17: India v Canada
September 19: India v Australia
September 22: India v Canada
September 23: India v Australia
September 25: India v South Korea
September 26: Final; Play-off for 3rd and 4th place.
