Srikkanth named India 'A' coach

Former India opening batsman Krishnamachari Srikkanth has been appointed coach of the India 'A' team which will tour the United States from September 15 to September 27, Board of Control for Cricket in India executive secretary Sharad Diwadkar announced in Bombay today.

The India 'A' team is scheduled to play either three one-dayers with the Australia 'A' and West Indies 'A' squads, or five one-dayers with the Australia 'A' team.

Srikkanth was coach of the Indian under-19 and India 'A' teams last season. The team will have a five or six-day camp before leaving for Los Angeles on September.

Diwadkar informed that the senior team, which is presently in Singapore, will fly directly to Toronto for the three-match one-day series against the West Indies from September 11 to 14.
