Aussies beat Zimbabwe in first one-dayer

Australia defeated Zimbabwe by 83 runs in the first of three one-day cricket internationals at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo today.

For Australia, opener Mark Waugh top-scored with a brilliant 106 from 96 balls. It was his 13th limited-overs century.

The match will be a memorable one for the Waughs as Mark's brother, skipper Steve, became Australia's most capped one-day player, passing Allan Border's record of 273 appearances. In those games Border made 6524 runs with three centuries and 39 half centuries and took 73 wickets. Before today's match, Waugh had made 6306 runs with two centuries, 37 fifties and had taken 191 wickets.
