BCCI, ACB match-fixing inquiries to be reviewed

icc panel to review inquiries of bcci and acb on match fixing The International Cricket Council's commission for code of conduct will later this month review inquiry reports of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Australian Cricket Board (ACB) on match-fixing.

ICC president Jagmohan Dalmiya told mediapersons in Delhi this evening that the commission will also review an unpublished confidential chapter attached to this year's ACB inquiry, headed by O' Regan.

The BCCI had constituted a one-man committee, headed by former Chief Justice of India Y V Chandrachud to inquire into allegations of betting and match-fixing in Indian cricket. The allegations were first levelled by former Test allrounder Manoj Prabhakar. Justice Chandrachud's report came out in 1997.

Dalmiya said the commission, headed by Lord Griffiths, was awaiting the outcome of investigations by the Scotland Yard police in relation to recent allegations of attempts to persuade New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming and England player Chris Lewis to fix a match. The other two members of the commission are Sir Oliver Popplewell (England) and Justice Sachs (South Africa).

''We wanted to avoid overlapping of investigations,'' the ICC president said.

Asked about the inquiry into allegations of match-fixing in Pakistan, he said: ''The Pakistan Cricket Board has assured us of the report shortly.''

Dalmiya said a country sending an inquiry report will not be represented in the commission.
