Malcolm Marshall succumbs to colon cancer

Former West Indies fast bowler and coach Malcolm Marshall died after a battle with colon cancer. Malcolm, 41, died on Thursday in a hospital in Barbados.

With a career span of 15 years, Malcolm was the highest wicket taker, 376, for West Indies till Courtney Walsh overtook him in November 1998.

Malcolm was on leave from his coaching position after undergoing surgery last year.

Regarded by many as one of the greatest fast-bowlers of all times, Malcolm formed the fearsome pace battery in the 80s alongside Joel Garner, Andy Roberts and Michael Holding.

He also took 157 wickets in one-dayers and was a handy lower order batsman.

Marshall is survived by a son and his wife, Connie, whom he married two months ago.
