Indian lifters worth their weight in gold

Bharati Singh erased two Commonwealth records as she lifted the gold in the over 75kg class to give India its seventh gold.

In the 75kg category, Romi Devi missed all her three attempts in the snatch, but managed to take the first place in the clean-and-jerk. She, however, failed to win any medal.

According to information received here, India won seven golds -- six of them claimed by women -- and a silver in the championship.
