Boy Becker beaten at Wimbledon

B Becker, a bustling, serve and volley player, was beaten in straight sets by little-known Japanese player Hayato Furukawa at Wimbledon on Monday.

The German is not three-time champion Boris, but one who answers to the name of Benjamin.

Becker, no relation to his more illustrious namesake, is currently ranked 130th as a junior, and was seeded 15th in the boys' singles at Wimbledon. He lost in the first round 3-6, 6-7(5-7).

The youngster is a year older than Boris was when he became the youngest men's Wimbledon singles champion in 1985, aged 17.
