Punjab, Bhopal score

Fancied Punjab stormed into the quarter-finals, thrashing Rajasthan 11-0, while Bhopal issued a caution to contenders Bombay with a superb performance against Hyderabad, in league matches of the Tata's 30th Junior National Hockey Championship in Bangalore today.

With Pool 'A' reduced to just three teams following the withdrawal of holders BSF, Punjab topped the group, having won both their matches.

Punjab, who survived a scare against Pondicherry yesterday, beat lowly rated Rajasthan 11-0. Both Pondicherry and Rajasthan bowed out of the championship as only one team qualifies for the knock-out.

Bhopal impressed with a stylish performance during their 4-1 victory over Hyderabad in group 'B'. They meet Bombay, who had scored runaway victories over Himachal Pradesh (6-1) and Hyderabad (9-0) in their first two matches, on June 22.
A keen contest is expected between both teams, as the match should decide who goes to the quarter-finals from the four-team group.
