Top four seeds romp into semis

Top-seeded Prahlad Srinath overcame a spirited challenge from unseeded Nitin Kirtane to storm into the semi-finals of the MTNL Indian Satellite Masters tennis tournament in New Delhi today.

Srinath, winner of the Bangalore and Bombay legs, beat Kirtane 6-4, 6-2 in a 93-minute encounter. He now plays fourth-seeded Harsh Mankad.

Mankad reaches the last four stage, overpowering fellow-countryman Vasudeva Reddy 6-2, 6-1 in a little under an hour.

Others who proceeded to the semi-finals were third-seeded Syed Fazaluddin and second-seeded Artem Derepasko of Russia, who now run into each other.

Fazaluddin defeated sixth-seeded Anton Kokurin of Uzbekistan 6-3, 2-6, 6-1, while Derepasko breezed past unseeded Indian Vijayendra Laad 6-2, 6-2.
