Ahir to lead women's cricket team to England

Three new faces, two from Andhra Pradesh and the other from Delhi, have been included in the 15-member Indian women's cricket team to tour England for a month, starting from from June 18.

T Narayan Pillay, organising secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Women's Cricket Association, while announcing the team, said G S Lakshmi and Mithali Raj of Andhra and medium pacer Umesh were the new faces in it. Indian Railways's Chandrakanta Ahir will lead the team.

The following is the team: Chandrakanta Ahir (capt), Rupanjili Shastri, Renu Margaret, Neetu David, Hemalata Kala, Reshma Gandhi (all Railways), Kalyani Umrani, Maha Purnima Rau, Anju Jain, Anjum Chopra and Depa Kulkarni (all Air India), G S Lakshmi and Mithali Raj (both AP), Arti Vaidya and Umesh (both Delhi).

The tour itinerary:
June 19 - 20: Two practice matches, at Milton keynes
June 21 - 23: Three-day match vs England under-21, at Campbell Park
June 25: One-day match vs England under-21, at Campbell Park
June 26: One-day match vs Ireland, at Campbell Park
July 1: One-day match vs ECB XI, at York
July 6: First one-day international vs England, at Old Trafford
July 9: Second one-day international vs England, at Northampton
July 11: Third one-day international vs England, at Trent Bridge
July 15-18: Four-day Test match vs England, at Shenley
