Be transparent, Bedi tells Tendulkar

Former India cricket captain Bishen Singh Bedi has advised newly-appointed captain Sachin Tendulkar to be transparent in his dealings as he readies to occupy the highest profiled assignment in the country, next only to the prime ministership.

At the same time, the volatile Sardar, who led India with lot of courage, often leading to controversy, chided the Board of Control for Cricket in India, reminding them that the captain (Tendulkar) was the boss.

In an interview to a Bombay newspaper, Bedi has exhorted Tendulkar to reach the Bradman heights. "Tendulkar has often been compared to Sir Don Bradman and now he must live up to it," he said.

Bedi sidelines Bombay's victorious captains like Polly Umrigar, Ajit Wadekar and Sunil Gavaskar and rates Tendulkar as the best and most positive Bombay captain.

"Now he has to recreate the kind of dressing room atmosphere that brought about many triumphs for Bombay under him," said Bedi, while asking Tendulkar to "usher in total togetherness in the Indian team so that it can flourish as never before".
