Mongia's catch of Mahmood adjudged best

Indian wicketkeeper Nayan Mongia's catch of Pakistan's Azhar Mahmood, off the bowling of Anil Kumble in the Super Six match against Pakistan, has been adjudged the best catch of the cricket World Cup in England.

The Indian wicketkeeper said he received a congratulatory message in this regard from Mike Eary, saying "the Daily Telegraph has published your (Mongia) catch against Pakistan as the catch of the tournament".

''I never thought of this (best catch) honour even in my dreams,'' said an elated Mongia.

Meanwhile, J Y Lele, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) honorary secretary, said: "It is creditable for Mongia and Indian cricket team."

Lele said the achievement was all the more creditable as Mongia played the match despite being injured.
