Anand moves into second place at Dortmund

Vishwanathan Anand finds himself placed joint second in the 27th Dortmund Chess tournament after 3 rounds.

This is a Category 19 Super Tournament, being played at the Main Opera House in Dortmund City Center from 10th-17th July 1999.

In his third round match, Anand defeated Jan Timman of the Netherlands, while Peter Leko of Hungary defeated Michael Adams of Britain.

In earlier rounds, Anand had drawn his games against Veselin Topalov and Michael Adams.

Peter Leko leads the table at the end of round three with 2.5 points, followed by Anand and Karpov, joint second with two points apiece.
