Lanka call off India one-day match

Sri Lanka have called off Saturday's friendly one-day match against India, at Mohali, because of the upcoming triangular tournament with India and Australia.

The triangular, limited-overs tournament will be followed by a three-Test series against Australia.

"We are giving great emphasis to the forthcoming Australian tour of Sri lanka and we want the players to really work hard for it," the Island newspaper quoted the interim cricket board president, Rienzie Wijetilleke, as saying.

A television station that had been scheduled to telecast the match, at Mohali in India, said the Sri Lankan team was to have been led by Arjuna Ranatunga, who has come under severe criticism following Sri Lanka's dismal performance at the World Cup in England.
