Another brick in the wall

Neeraj Vajpayee in Port of Spain

Though India's master blaster Sachin Tendulkar is a household name in the Caribbean, the island still holds little master Sunil Gavaskar in awe.

A local singer, thus, presented a song titled Gavaskar in honour of visiting Prime Minister A B Vajpayee at a dinner party hosted by his Trinidad and Tobago counterpart Basdeo Pandey last evening.

Describing Gavaskar as a ''wall'', the singer enthralled the august gathering while recalling how the West Indies were scared of his thrashing. ''We don't want Gavaskar at all as he is a wall'' was the punchline of the song.

The audience was amused when the calypso singer took the names of Indian cricketers and sang of their encounters with the Caribbean cavaliers in times past.
