Dharmani hits first Duleep century

North Zone made their 19th entry to the Duleep Trophy final when they defeated reigning champions Central Zone by virtue of the first innings lead in Guwahati today.

Resuming at overnight score of 328 for seven, Central were all out for 366 in reply to the North Zone's first innings total of 543.

Overnight not out batsmen Raja Ali added just one run as Robin Singh and Navdeep Singh wiped out the tail to give the North batsmen much-needed batting practice before the final, at the Eden Gardens on December 17.

North began their second innings on a disastrous note, losing three of their top wickets with just five runs on board, but Pankaj Dharmani and Rajiv Nayar added 217 runs for the fourth wicket before the match was called off after the 12th mandatory over.

Dharmani clobbered the Central bowlers to smithereens and smacked a swashbuckling first ton in the Duleep trophy, while Rajiv Nayar's fell just 12 runs short of a century.
