North in Duleep semi-finals

North Zone entered the semi-finals of the Duleep Trophy cricket tournament by virtue of its 165-run first innings lead over South Zone in the quarter-final match which ended in a tame draw at M B B stadium in Agartala today.

North meet Central Zone in the semi-final which will be played from December 9 at Guwahati. The final will be held at Calcutta from December 17 to 21.

Resuming at the overnight score of 77 for one, North declared their second innings an hour after lunch, after mustering a total of 257 for eight in 79.5 overs.

Skipper Vikram Rathore struck form to score 93, the highest score en the second innings. His knock was studded with ten hits to the fence.

South, in their second innings, scored 100 runs, losing one wicket in 30 overs. Opener S Mahesh made a strokeful 42, studded with five boundaries, before being scalped by S Singh, while Nanda Kishore (51) and Tilak Naidu (01) were unbeaten.
