Heyns breaks own World swim mark

Penny Heyns of South Africa broke her own World record for the 100-metres breaststroke today at the Pan Pacific championships, with a new best time of 1 minute, 6.52 seconds.

Heynes set her previous World record for the distance last month in Los Angeles with a time of 1:06.92 seconds.

The new record earned her 25,000 Australian dollars (about 16,250 US dollars) from a sponsor who paid that sum for the first new world mark by a women swimmer at the Games being held in Sydney.
