Susantika's request granted

Organisers of the World Athletics Championships in Spain have reportedly decided to provide private accommodation to Sri Lankan sprint queen Susantika Jayasinghe after the athlete expressed fears she may be framed for doping by her team mates.

Susantika had refused to stay with the rest of her country's team participating in the Seville Championships, saying she ''could not trust the Sri Lankan officials''.

She feared anybody in the team could contaminate her food, drinks or medicines to pose her as ''a drug cheat''.

The event organisers have agreed to provide her accommodation outside the games village, Midweek Mirror quoted sources as saying.

The championships begin on Saturday. Susantika is slated to take part in the 100 and 200 metres sprints.
