Ranatunga returns to practise

Former Sri Lanka captain Arjuna Ranatunga has been allowed to practise with the national squad again after a short ban following an unauthorised visit to Canada, cricket board officials said today.

Ranatunga was banned from practice after he travelled to Toronto for an exhibition match last weekend but did not inform the board or team management of his plans.

Officials said he was allowed to return after he explained there was a breakdown in communication between him and the cricket board.

Sri Lanka are preparing to battle World champions Australia and India in a triangular one-day series from August 22. The Australians will stay on for a three-Test series.
