Sony bags telecast rights for Sri Lanka cricket

Sony Entertainment Television will provide live telecast of the AIWA Cup, between India, Sri Lanka and Australia, in Sri Lanka, and the Singapore Challenge, featuring India, the West Indies and Zimbabwe.

At a press conference in Bombay yesterday, the company announced that it has secured television rights from the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) to cover cricket for a period of 18 months in the island, for 7.75 million dollars. The AIWA Cup, from August 22 to 31, will kick off the telecast.

It will be followed with action of the three-Test series between Sri Lanka and Australia. The first Test begins on September 9.

The Singapore Challenge will also be beamed live from September 2 to 7. India, the West Indies and Zimbabwe are the three teams taking part in the trianugular in Singapore.
