Jaspal Rana continued his brilliant performance at the Commonwealth Games, grabbing a gold in the centre fire pistol event today, taking India's tally of gold medals to seven, one more than in the 1994 Victoria Games.

This is Rana's second gold in his individual tally of four medals. He has also got one silver and one bronze medal. The centre pistol fire competition is his favourite event.

Earlier Rana had won the first gold along with Ashok Pandit in the centre fire pairs event. This is the fourth gold for India in the shooting events.

Rana was tied with Allan MacDonald of South Africa but won on the countback.

In precision, Rana topped the competition with 293 points, his series score being 48, 50, 50, 47, 48 and 50. He finished seventh in rapid fire with 288 points. Had he a better series score than 47, 49, 49, 47, 48 and 48 in rapid, he would have outshot MacDonald.

In the countback, he edged out MacDonald, having targetted 98 in the sixth series to MacDonald's 97. The bronze went to Canadian John Rochon with 576 points.
