Black buck -- the sequel

A half-an-hour colour documentary on India's ace footballer I M Vijayan -- first of its kind on any soccer player in the country -- has hit the silver screens in various parts of Kerala.

The 35 mm film is titled Kalo Harin (In translation, black buck -- a rather sensitive name at the moment thanks to Bollywood star Salman Khan). 'Black buck' is the name given to Vijayan by soccer-crazy Bengalis.

The film depicts great moments from Vijayan's career, spanning both national and international soccer tournaments held in Calcutta, Calicut, Kochi and other places.

The film is also expected to go on the Internet on November one -- Kerala Formation Day -- according to Cherian Joseph, director of director of Thrissivapehoor Creations, which produced the film.

Kalo harin is meanwhile being screened in theatres with the cooperation and sponsorship of various sports clubs, youth organisations and the Kerala sports directorate, Joseph informed the media.

The film, which also captures Vijayan's social background and origins, will be screened with English sub titles in other parts of the country, especially Bengal.
