Paes-Bhupathi in Shanghai semis

The Indian duo of Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi, ranked third in the world and seeded second here, entered the semifinals of the Heinekken Open being played in Shanghai.

In the quarter final match yesterday, they defeated the S Schalken/J Van Lottum pair, 6-4, 6-3.

Top seed Australian pairing Mark Woodforde and Todd Woodbridge also entered the semifinal, defeating M Kiel/T J Middleton 6-2, 6-1.

The fourth seed pair of Wayne Black/P Tramacchi defeated G Ivanisevic/S Hirszon 6-7(3), 6-4, 7-6(4) in a long battle.

Paes/Bhupathi's semifinal opponents will be known when the results of the the quarterfinal match between the third-seeds Galbraith/Steven and M Tebutt/M Tillstrom come in. That game will be played later on Friday, and the semifinal is slated for Saturday.
