Indian cricketers, umpires get a big pay raise

The Board of Control for Cricket in India today substantially increased the fees of players and umpires for Test and one-day international matches.

For a Test match, players and umpires will get Rs 15,000 more, while the payment for ODIs has been increased by Rs 10,000.

At present, players and umpires get Rs 25,000 each per Test and Rs 15,000 for ODIs.

The decision to increase the fees was taken at a meeting of the BCCI working committee in New Delhi.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, BCCI secretary J Y Lele said it was also decided to send the Indian team to England on April 24 to prepare for the World Cup.

He said BCCI president Raj Singh Dungarpur would attend the International Cricket Council meeting to be held at Christchurch, New Zealand, on January 10 and 11.
