Late Indian strikes peg back Wellington

Wellington was 273 for seven at stumps on the opening day of a four-day cricket match against India at the Basin Reserve today.

Wellington was 190 for two at tea, but when former Test player Roger Twose went for 99 in the first over after the break, four wickets followed in quick succession.

India's most successful bowler was legspinner Anil Kumble, who took four for 56 from 28 overs.

India is preparing for the first Test against New Zealand that begins next Friday.
